I forgot to mention earlier that I also learned to use solfa or solfege to become acquainted with intervals and chords. Check out some info here Solfège - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

nice im actually not bad at interval recognition and chords etc and yes come to think of it i did use association theory too, e.g tri tone as the simpsons, 4ths as american beauty and a suspense etc

I do think that is more useful than sitting down and hoping you'll learn the sound of intervals from a test program. Obviously, to use the program as a test to see if you know what you think you know then is fine IMO.
