Default Acoustic Guitar Strings

Anyone else had problems with D'addario custom light acoustic Guitar strings? Just bought my third set in the space of a few weeks and yet again one of the strings have just snapped not long after fitting them. I've never ever had this sort of problem before. The booklet that came with the guitar reccommended that i use D'addario custom light strings with it, but i've had nothing but hassle with them. They don't seem to be very strong. It's a tenner each bloody time. I've ordered medium guage this time to see if they will be any better. What strings do most of you guys tend to go for?

I tend to go for the Martin light

and extra light

How are you stringing them?
I'd be disappointed with one snapping in 3 years.
They really should not be snapping.

For donkey's years I've wound the string once around the peg before threading it through and I've not had a single break with that method, regardless of the age of the strings or abuse. This works for me but this is the best way - man how quick is this:

For electric, I do go straight through and loop back on itself like below. I've never had a break with this method either.

I was using the second method you have on there, it isn't how i've usually strung my guitars in the past but the booklet that came with the Guitar suggested doing it that way and i just gave it a go a few times. It was a bloody pain, i've gone back to my original method which is very similar to yours.

Default string breaking

dude you really got to check the nut and bridge for any sharpness. i will concede that this is a more common problem on electrics though rather than acoustics

It's cool, i changed the way i strung the Guitar back to my original method and it's been fine ever since. I should never have bothered changing, i just thought i'd follow what the booklet said that came with the Guitar but had a hell of a time doing it that way.

i pet hate for acoustic guitar strings are D'addario light gauge, i always use Martin 10's give a great tone and sound even better when played in properly.
i teach beginners guitar and always tell them stay away from
D'addario
