Default Factory Records 4 Disc Box set released

If, like me, you're a fan of the Manchester label that had a major contribution to the music scene/industry as we know it today, news of this release will have you reaching for your wallet..

Factory Records:Communications

It's also available on iTunes but evidently with some ACR (A Certain Ratio) tracks, which do appear on the physical release, excluded..

Wow, that's a great tracklisting! Thanks for the headsup, I have an Amazon gift voucher that I'm trying to decide what to do with - this may make the shortlist.

Reading further into the blog I sourced this from.. An older box set called 'Palatine' was pretty awesome too.. Though the above 'Communications' set seems to be re-mastered (..of course!)..

Palatine:Fact 400

Hmmm.. "re-mastered" ... could also mean "smashed beyond reasonable dynamic recognition" ...

How importan is/was this label? I only recognise Joy Division, New Order, and the Happy Mondays. I need to get out more!

I meant the one about New Order, Joy Division and Happy Mondays... the former two in my opinion are two of the most important bands ever (well, maybe they only account for 1 1/2 as one was the phoenix of the other one).

I'm sure you get out plenty.

That's what I'm here. I did see James and OMD listed there on the link. Lots of "new" music to explore. Cheers
