You're a bit of a fool on the hill if you think Play is actually there yet - I installed it, and was like "hello... goodbye!" - but of course with the newer EWQL programs you have to use it - you can't get back to Kompakt/Kontakt. For now I'll have to carry that weight of a slightly buggy engine, but it sometimes feels like fixing a hole! That said, I've got a feeling it's getting better - getting better all the time. I'm sure, um, they can work it out. Something something.

Wow what an outfit! and all made out of cheap stuff. In the movie the wardrobe department had the luxury to make the outfits out of errrr, cheap stuff.

An early double-manual, woodgrain Mellotron;

It didn't crash on those youtube demos. I don't have any ewql software myself.

Yesterday or the night before. I saw her standing there, the guys wife, Eleanor Rigby, and she was doing the vocals and I said "Hey Jude, that playing is great man and your bird can sing" and I asked how did she get in the room. He said that she climbed in through the bathroom window. She asked how I was and I said 'I feel fine' and she said 'I need you to play guitar.'

She then whispered 'Do you want to know a secret? I wanna be your man' and I.............should have known better and called for help but Jude said she loves you and she nodded and said I want to hold your hand. I'll give you a tenner if you love me and I said "money can't buy me, love." I thought 'act naturally' but she followed me here, there and everywhere. She said "I want you in my life." Aww aint she sweet.

I said "look, I'm only sleeping with you because it's your birthday." She said that we would could make love for hours but I thought 'nah, it won't be long.' She said 'come and get it and have a taste of honey.' There was a quick twist and shout 'please please me.' I was thinking 'hurry up so we can come together.' She turned over and I thought 'you can't do that legally in some countries.' I thought 'this is going nowhere, man.' So I made my exit with a little help from my friends and thought that it was time to get back. Where though? Back in the USSR. Sometimes you've got to hide your love away. I came over all Arnie like and said "I'll be back"

Seriously though, it is a complete walk through discussion of the product with the remote interviewer staying in view and looking kinda dorky in a little picture-in-picture thingy

MTron
I already have the original M-Tron by GForce. I particularly love the fact that they *kept* the inherent limitations of the real Mellotron... namely the 8 second sustain time of each note, it forces you to think about how you're going to play each piece using it, just as you did with the original instrument and in these days of "endless possibilities" for computer based music, a little limitation forces a bit more creativity on the part of the musician... fortunately you don't need to wait for the tape to rewind in order to retrigger the same note I can imagine how cool the v2 is as I also have VSM and the new MTron uses the VSM engine and interface. It does sound wonderful though, it's even worth it for the excitement of the heavily clichéd moment of playing the Strawberry Fields intro yourself... plus Dave Spiers is a cool dude-bloke.

Fab Four
Of all the "themed" EWQL Play products, this one is very near the top of my "I want that one" list. I have to echo T3's comments on the Play engine though... in my case I particularly find it very clunky for setting up and altering multi-channel sound assignments within one instance... they could have certainly made it much more intuitive (i.e. a bit more like Kontakt in this respect)... I still want one though!

Thanks Monarch for compiling those videos.

The prizes certainly look impressive and I'm sure everyone would be delighted to get their hands on them.

M-Tron looks to have really nice sounds but it looks a bit complicated to use to me. Is it complicated, Dave? Is there much of a learning curve with it?

As for Fab Four...it looks very versatile to me. The second video has some quite nice stuff to offer. I am sure it would be very hand to have in the arsenal!
