Default It won't be the forum so it must be me!

I have been buying stuff from DV247 since the 1980s, have been reading a lot (lurking) on the forum but I am a newly signed up forum member. However, I seem to be having a few teething problems.

1) I posted an entry (here). None of the pictures showed and none of the links I made worked.

2) As a result I then tried to delete the post - if you hover over the Edit button it says Edit/Delete Message - but I could not see how to delete the message.

3) I posted a reply in the topic Audio interface to use with Rode NT1A on a mac - yet another link that doesn't work! When I submitted my reply I got a message saying a moderator would need to approve it. Fine, except my reply still does not show. What I said might have been helpful but it is another example of how I am not getting on very well with the forum software.

4) On all the posts I have made my avatar does not show, although I can see it in my profile.

5) I have only been a forum meber for 5 days and already I am getting spam Private Messages from forum member Serendipity. What I am doing wrong?

I am sure it won't be the forum because I see other people's avatars, pictures and links work fine, so it must be me. Please accept my apologies for the mess I have made and thanks for reading this far!

Really, unexpected spam from people asking questions you may see as silly doesn't necessarily mean anything. Quite often if you look like you know what you're on about they will jump on you like an early morning milk float.
I've had issues putting pictures up, it's not you, it's the forum. Resize them in another program first, when the forum says it's resizing them it's a lie.
And it is weird that a moderator has to approve your post when I can type **** this ******* ******** **** **** **** and not get told off...I have no answer for that one. ****.

True, but the anti-spam measures I was recommending some time back come with the option of only spam filtering members who have not posted X number of messages. Wilty, being the esteemed forum member that he is, is now free to post a message trying to sell us Viagra, Cialis, etc, etc, whereas a member who has not posted X number of messages has to have their message approved if the message gets flagged by the anti-spam checks.

I don't know about the avatar problem but perhaps that will sort itself out once Lester gets beyond half a dozen posts or so.

I get the idea, I will just have to do my probation period. Thanks for the help.

It's pretty standard with some forums that your first posts are moderated and also that your avatar wont show until after you have made a certain amount of posts.

Welcome by the way.

Wooo yeah, my Viagra & fake designer handbag business can finally fulfill the very obvious yet entirely unmet demand on this forum...
I just need a name...

I'll take 150 of your fake designer handbags, to be shipped to my warehouse in Lagos, Nigeria. Cheque ok?

This is just a reply to get my post count up to the required threshold. I'll consider the viagra and handbags offers another time.

Blatant post count reply #2.

Handbags? Do you have a couple of large ones I could use as monster bass traps? I have a budget of $37 million, as promised to me by the widow of a senior Nigerian official.

Having supplier trouble. Your merchandise will be delivered as soon as I can get them shipped out of the port they are being held in. If you wish a refund please email the address on the invoice you should have received. If you have not received an email check spam filters.

How about links, eg. DV247?

So 8 is how many posts it takes before the forum works properly. Avatars require more.

Hmmm.. I'm not sure that's the case, will look into it and report back (re: avatars, that is)
