Default Buy/sell policy - software

I can completely understand why software would be a touchy area for the buy and sell forums, I can see how it could be open to abuse/piracy etc.

But what about when the software in question involves iLok licenses to transfer? No physical product is shipped, the buyer simply gets a license and then downloads the software from the relevant manufacturer. Could this be permitted? It seem to me this would be much more secure and assured, because there's no possibility of piracy and each software manufacturer either permits or doesn't permit their licenses to be transferred, so there's no issues with EULAs preventing resale.

I have a few iLok licenses I'd like to sell and there's a few I'm looking to then either purchase or trade for, so it would be very handy to allow this exception.

Just a thought!!

Hi T3
I'm afraid we, as a Forum, will have to adhere to the 100% blanket policy of no software re-selling (through transfer of ownership or otherwise) within our 'Trader' section. Without researching every manufacturers T&C's or contacting each and every company to ask their opinion, such selling or transfer of ownership could be problematic and it is felt by our parent retail company that this is a correct and proper guideline.

Sorry that we can't move forward further on your recommendation.

Hi modz1

That's disappointing but thanks for checking into it. Will have to stick with ebay to dump my unused iLok licenses then...
