Hi,

How do I go about tightening up low end guitars/bass in heavymetal songs?
I am thinking of stuff like Sevendust, Forever Never, Fear Factory.

How do I tighten up the sound but still give it lots of impact? I am using Pro Tools LE 8 along with POD FARM and TH1 Overloud. 5 string bass and Ibanez 7 string.

Hope someone can give some pointers?

Cheers!

Evenin' all,

Hopefully someone might be able to give me a few pointers on this one? I'm mixing for a short film and there's a scene where most of the shots are internal (House) but there's the odd burst of around 2-3 second shots of external camera views.

For mixing ambiences, would you keep the internal ambience running, maybe lower it a bit? or would you cut straight to the external ambience with a quick fade in/out?

I've tried both and both sound as good ( or bad ) as each other really.. Is there a 'proper' method for this?

And yeah, i was going to watch a bit of tv and try and find a scene like it but i fair can't be arsed :o

Cheers

Hello chums

I'm doing a little something for some pals of mine on a non music forum. There's a few guitarists on there and one of them posted an idea about doing a track over the net and I foolishly popped my head up and offered my mixing services.

Are there any real pointers as to how you guys mix rhythm and lead guitars, EQ and panning etc. So far i've run a rough guitar part through some basic Cubase distortion-Vintage Warmer-Sandford Reverb (bright room for ambience) and it sound ok I think, I've also low cut it quite hard and given it a tiny boost around 2-3k (from memory).

I'm quite enjoying it too

Oh the first track is a cover of foxy lady btw so that's the kind of style we're trying to achieve.

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been covered.

I'm still a bit confused when recording vocals with cubase as regards when best to set Comp, EQ Reverb, etc; if I choose to set them whilst recording, can't they just be deactivated and/or altered at anytime afterwards anyway, or is it that at the recording stage, no plugins presents a good starting point? Hope this makes sense.
Cheers!
