Any recommendations?

I have been told the Tascam US122 is ok to start with. And is well under £200 which is a bonus.

PS - Anyone want a VXpocket V2 card + leads?

Hi, I posted a problem on the forum last week regarding connection of my Phonic Firewire mixer to a brand new win 7 pc. Initially I believed it to be a driver issue however I have tried to connect it to a different computer and still get the same problem. The driver installs ok until it reaches the final screen "connect device and power on", after connecting and powering up I click next but the mixer is not found and the "connect device and power on" screen reappears every time i try. Could my mixer be the problem?

My old pc I used with the mixer had a power surge and blew the mobo and power supply, could this have damaged my mixer?

Any suggestions most welcome please, this is doing my nut in!

Dell have a 22" version that a few places are selling for around £350,

if you can multi-touch different areas of the screen at the same time then it could be very useful for the mixer section of your fav sequencer, but I'm guessing most can't do this??

Hi, I'm new to the forum and hope you good people can help solve my headaches.

I've just purchased an intel Quad core 2.5 pc, 4gb ram running windows 7. I've been trying to install my Phonic Firewire 18 Helixboard mixer using the 2.44 driver from the Phonic website. The driver loads but on the final screen states "disconnect and reconnect cable and turn on devices" but the mixer is not found. I've tried installing with the mixer disconnected, switched on/off etc but to no avail.
I've emailed Phonic but still waiting for their reply.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi guys, newbie here.
Just been wondering, for ages actually, whether to record using PC - AT3525 + Edirol interface UA 101 + Cubase, or digitally record and mix just using the AT3525 + FMR RNP + BOSS BR 1200. I'm thinking mainly in terms of sound clarity [converter quality] . Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Hi all,

I am new to the forums but have had a quick look through and there are some interesting threads. I'm looking for some advice please. :)

I would like to build a new computer for studio use. I am currently running an old P3 2.8Ghz which has done well for a number of years but now I think it's time for an upgrade.

The key for me is that I would like use a mixture of hardware and software and I'm not sure on the best way to proceed. I have Cubase 4 and Reason 3 rewired + numerous soft synths. I've also got a Roland JD-800, Korg 05R/W and an Akai S6000 sampler with the 16 outputs (realistically I'd use about 8 of these). I'd really like to use all the kit, so I understand I may need a audio interface(?) - I'd previously used a mixer to handle the hardware and then connect the output of this to my Terratec sound card. Is this the best approach?

What is the advantage of an audio interface over a mixer? Can I "free up" some CPU power?

I'd like a decent PC (I would consider a Mac but I've invested a fair bit in PC software now with Cubase and Reason and soft synths) and let's say a budget of £600 - £1000. I'd also build the PC myself, unless I could make considerable savings buying a DAW off the shelf.

Could I get a decent studio pc for that?

My other alternative is that I sell the Akai and just use the JD as a controller keyboard, but I do like the sounds on the Akai and I can control it from the PC.

Thanks in advance.
