Hi, new to this forum but have spent the last couple of days reading through some of your posts and have found some very useful info on here, so thanks for that.

Hopefully you can help with a small problem I'm having...

Finished a track solely in Reason for the first time (usually have it slaved), but want to mix it down in cubase by exporting each track as an audio file to make the most of my vst's. All well so far, but when I have tried to export them at 24/96 and load it into cubase it plays the track in cubase at half speed. It's fine if i export it at 16/44.1 but I would prefer to mix it down at the highest sample rate possible.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

Well here I go then. I started out on a Digi 001 running on what was then a fairly good PC, but this was back in 2004. I somehow managed to record drums on that thing, so I dove straight into recording friends bands. I also started college that year and did a 2 year BTEC in Music Technology. In and around this I did bits and bobs of work experience/making the tea jobs for various producers, wherever I could find it. Over time graduated from tea boy to Pro Tools Op/Engineer. Eventually I got fed up of my PC maxing out and crashing so I invested in a MacBook and an 002. Got myself a studio space in the town centre where I live (seaside town called Eastbourne in the UK), installed all my gear there and began to establish myself as a producer/engineer/mixer. Worked with a number of bands on singles/EP's/Albums that were released through various labels. Had my first week off this year last week so decided to take up golf. The verdict so far: I'm not very good at it!

Hi All,

Been a Pro Tools user for 7 years now, I think my first version of Pro Tools was 5.1! Pretty sure elastic audio would have crashed the old PC I was working on in an instant. Anyways, I've started a blog over at http://www.protoolsguide.com aimed at pooling the best online resources for learning about Pro Tools that I've found over the years. I thought it may be handy in helping other people to discover that elusive shortcut that they've been trawling the internet in the wee small hours of the morning to find out. Something like that anyway..!

(snipped this out of my other thread as really a separate question) -

In the DM5 module manual it says you can daisy chain DM5 modules over MIDI. My (perhaps stupid) question is this: if you do that, does it effectively mean you double the number of inputs/triggers you can use? Or does it serve some other purpose?

THanks.

This is what FXpansion say:

While the sounds are from the world of marching and orchestral percussion, they are very useful in any type of music. For example, the tonal bass drums are floor-shaking alternatives to 808 kick drums, for making huge sub basses and storming grooves. The orchestral chimes and timpani are capable of full melodic lines, and are ideally suited to creative sound design and film work. Marching snares tend to be very cutting and are useful for all kinds of mixes. Quad toms are good for alternative tom sounds or percussive uses. The Brake drum is perfect for latin street percussion grooves, and the cymbals are useful for all kinds of applications. The suspended cymbals don't have a cymbal stand to dampen their vibrations, so they ring out longer and undisturbed compared to regular drumkit-based cymbals.

So, we've just invested in a fair top of the range CD/DVD Duplication system (R-quest NS2100) for a project we're doing. Now we've got it we've had a few people come to us asking if we can make copies of CDs for them. At the moment we're looking at around 1500 CDs to be duplicated.

The machine can handle that quite easily but i'm struggling to find a suitable printer/machine that can automate the CD inlay & booklet. I'm guessing a decent printer will do a good enough job of the actual print, but you won't catch me volunteering to manually cut 1500 CDs out of A4.

Can anyone suggest a machine/process that can do it? Online i can only find Rollem machines which are industry sized machines capable of 1500 an hour . Far too big for what we want it for.

Any suggestions are appreciated
