Well, I watched X Factor and was left perplexed and underwhelmed. It's not the Freemasons fault though.
They basically played the remix, in an overly stripped down and simplified form. It just took away the drums and added some vocals that don't appear to sound like the release version..I guess they took an instrumental from them and put what they needed for the show on top.. It was painful to watch. The majority of her performance was provided by vocals from the backing track. There was one point she stopped singing because her dress became undone, but the dropout from the audio was minimal. It really did show her up. She was basically doing what I like to call 'Cheese Jazz Miming". In a sense that the track was full enough to warrant her not being there to perform: all she did was pretty much shout and wail over parts of it. The sort of thing that lets her be heard but also dance and/or pout to make it appear better then it is in reality. At the end, she appeared to be in a state that Pete Doherty would be proud of. Overall I'd say she's slipped too far to keep up with the newer generations. Despite the song being written by Alicia Keys and then getting a Freemasons mix, she just didn't look or sound upto scratch tonight. |
