Default Power Supplies

Hi Folks

Hope you're all well.

What kind of PSUs do people use for their pedalboards?

I recently got a Diago (Pedalboards, Pedal Board Cases, Effects Pedal Power Supplies and the Finest Hand-built British Guitar Amplifiers by Diago - Home) supply, and thus far, it's appeared to be excellent. Really steady and no hum whatsoever.

I'm chuffed with it.

Just the bog standard Boss adapter and a TU-2 pedal to distribute the power.

Boss PSA-240 Adaptor 9v - 200mA Power Supply at DV247.COM

Works with my Ibanez, EH and MXR pedals as well as Boss just fine.

Sorry if that's a boring solution.

Not at all - just intrigued by the choices. I tried a few out before getting the Diago, and there were a few that had some severe hum and noise issues.

Line 6 Tonecore pedals are the worst! Use them with anything other than their adapters and they seem to be worthless.

I pretty much hate Line6 anything, I've never heard a single Line6 product that sounded useful or even remotely close to good, but that's just me!

I'm rather fond of my Variax 600, and find it very useful for when I can't be bothered to mike up an acoustic for some background strumming...

Sorry - should have excluded the actual guitar products - only because I've never (knowingly) heard one. Pedals, rack stuff, modelling devices, all those things just don't float my boat. But I know they get used a lot out there...

That seems to be a general opinion on the Line 6 to be honest.

I've got no complaints about the Echo Park, but I'm seriously considering an MXR Carbon Copy, or maybe the Boss RE-20 Space Echo pedal which I personally think sounds absolutely fantastic for the price.

I got it a few years ago on the cheap, and it's built like a tank and had some good delays for what I needed.

I think the Line 6 stuff is great for people who aren't complete audiophiles (unlike myself!) but in truth, nothing comes close to the originals they try to ape.

And they also give people who can't afford the gear, are young, or are just interested to get hold of some tones they wouldn't be able to usually.

If I were out for a delay pedal tomorrow I'd look at this:

Eventide Time Factor at DV247.COM

However, I'm on the waitlist for a Toneczar Echoczar pedal already, so gonna hold out for that. It should be ready sometime between June 2009 and Jan 2010. Seriously.

I might pick up an Ibanez AD9 in the meantime to hold me over, though, if I find I really need an analogue delay. I already have a Boss DD6 which covers my digital delay requirements.

But this is way O/T now!

I'd never seen that Eventide. Ouch! Thanks for that - something else to burn a hole in my virtual wallet.

Looks pretty impressive. The spec is amazing.

Still, the Moogerfooger Delay is still the daddy as far as I'm concerned! Sounds amazing.

The Moogerfooger is cool, no question about that. And 'novelty-oversized' too compared to my other 'compact' pedals.

This is the one I'm awaiting though...

toneczar pedals

Check out the 'downloads' section (up at the top) and watch/listen to the demos...

(24 month waiting list if you want one! I got my name on this past January...)

I use a modified ATX power supply ripped out of an old PC to power all of my gear. I do have to slightly over-volt the 9v stuff to 10v and it's not as tidy a solution as dedicated pedal boards, but it works perfectly, and I do like the convenience of a single switch and a single power supply that powers all of my pre-amps, my NRV10, and my various pedals. Fun stuff, t'be sure.

Jesus, Terminal. Did you have to show me those?

They're all gorgeous - I'm after a decent tremolo pedal and had my heart set on the Fulltone Supatrem. However, having just seen those things!!

I have a Moogerfooger LPF and the Ring Modulator, and they sound beautiful. Great, great pedals.

I've been extremely happy with: Godlyke PA9-UK 9 Volt Power Adapter/Mains Adapter/ at DV247.COM

1.7A is more than enough for most people, it's quiet and it comes with a daisy and a load of adapters: everything i need.

I'm running 5 pedals off it with no problem.

Boss PSC-230 that comes with the BCB-60 pedal boards. It's a 1amp ps that's perfectly enough for 6 pedals.
