Default Marshall DSL 401 Problem

Hi there, recently purchased a second hand JCM2000 DSL 401, It was manufactured in 2004 from what I can tell by the serial number.

I've read a little about these amps overheating but I don't think this is the issue with mine, the problem with mine is that the sound will simply fade out and then fade back in again (if I'm lucky) It usually happens after about 5-10 mins play.

I've read a little about this issue but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

It probably is a heating issue, if it only happens during the warm-up phase. What you can do about it, I don't know. Removing the valves, cleaning the sockets, installing a new set of valves and re-biasing, maybe?

The Valve Amp Debugger might be able to help out. And for a cheap set of replacement valves, try Eurotubes . He'll show you how to rebias it, too.

Thanks, according to Marshall it's a know issue with the rectifier, I now have a new one on the way, hopefully this will solve the problem.

The valves are all new, a re-bias probably wouldn't go amiss
