Default guitar player looking to get 2nd drum kit... ahem...

ok, looks like i need a 2nd kit...

specifically an electronic kit... one that will allow me to record beats into logic / BFD etc etc as midi notes...

also, i need to be able to practice without scaring the neighbors...

i currently have a TAMA rock style kit which is very very loud... it sounds amazing...

i got some silencer pads but the kick drum of course is still pretty darn loud and it breaks my heart anyway to practice with the pads on it...

the 3rd reason for 2nd kit is i have twin 5 year old girls that love playing my acoustic kit and if they had an electronic kit to play around on and i could control the volume we would all be happy...

so...

as i am a mac user and need midi i/o those 99 quid ION drums are probably not for me...

perhaps an Alesis DM5 kit? maybe a used one?

might even stretch to the DM5 Pro as those are only a few quid more expensive... although the cymbals on the Pro don't flop around like you would think they would to be more realistic? does that bug any of you guys?

so maybe the regular DM5 with the Pro snare pad so it has rim shot capabilities?

i do use the Tama drums to sample and play beats for recording and looping and layering etc etc for recording but would be interested in building up chops so i can play proper drums instead of just snippits and hits and loops for recording...

also would consider the Yamaha DD-65 as it has midi i/o and would be kinda cool for me to input midi drums for recording and also for the kids banging on.... have seen it new for around 120 quid... it has the kick and hihat pedals so i guess i can do some sort of practicing on it too?

any drum experts on here who can shed some light on what would be a good route to go?

i have read that some people are having problems with triggering latency on the DM5... is it really an isssue?

thanks guys!

feel free to recommend any other kits.... have seen some cheap Yamaha DTXpress III kits on ebay... are those going to be too old and crappy? the sounds being old isn't a big deal as i have great drum samples on the computer...
