Really like how the kit sounds on the damien rice records, sort of small and live sounding.
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to get a similar sound? Preferably with the use of as few mics as possible (i.e. B1 condensor and SM57..) Any offers would be much appreciated! |

Apparently all the drums on the album were actually recorded as an after thought on that album, and were done pretty simply. The whole album was done on either 8 track or 16 track hard disc recorders, in Rice's lounge, and everything was recorded with AKG c1000s and some large obscure Russian microphones if i remember rightly A couple of C1000s for over heads and something for the kick drum and i don't think you'll be too far off. Alot of the sound actually comes from it being a very nice drum kit too though, so any Pearl Exports need not apply. |

Aaaah yes, well I thought it probably was something fairly simple, but didn't know if you needed a room with particular acoustics or whatever. Maybe I just need to find a good kit then... brilliant...
Thanks for the tips. |

if you have drums...
try playing around with your mics and moving mics around etc etc... i've heard some amazing sounding drums recorded on 1 mic... ______________________________
