Default Damien Rice sounding drums?

Really like how the kit sounds on the damien rice records, sort of small and live sounding.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to get a similar sound? Preferably with the use of as few mics as possible (i.e. B1 condensor and SM57..)

Any offers would be much appreciated!

I assume you're talking about "O", if you are it's pretty basic stuff from what i've heard.

Apparently all the drums on the album were actually recorded as an after thought on that album, and were done pretty simply.

The whole album was done on either 8 track or 16 track hard disc recorders, in Rice's lounge, and everything was recorded with AKG c1000s and some large obscure Russian microphones if i remember rightly

A couple of C1000s for over heads and something for the kick drum and i don't think you'll be too far off. Alot of the sound actually comes from it being a very nice drum kit too though, so any Pearl Exports need not apply.

Aaaah yes, well I thought it probably was something fairly simple, but didn't know if you needed a room with particular acoustics or whatever. Maybe I just need to find a good kit then... brilliant...
Thanks for the tips.

Does anyone else read the title of this thead, and think to themselves how much fun it would be to beat Damien Rice with sticks and make a sample pack of it?
