Thumbs down New Funky House

so been getting alot of requests to play "funky house" right in the middle of what i would of thought was a funky house set, at first i was wondering if these people asking where simply drunk but turns out, there is a new funky house, a mix of afro beat, grime, bassline and garage imo.

cant really stand it, another genre that the UK has come up with that simply sucks @ss. what do you guys think?

examples of "new funky house" this is "new rnb" all over

not sure if this is more rnb but its been requested as funky house???

I'm hearing a lot of 4/4 beats creep into R&B (I have an R&B room the floor above me at my weekly gig).. The first two vids above are complete drivel..period.. The 'Day and Night' single is quite original and a very clever blend of a few genres which, though not a particular fave of mine, does work well out there..

I have a better name for this 'new' genre - Unbeleivable Sh*** Urgh

I didnt mind when all this crap stayed within r&b/hiphop etc, but now its invading proper dance music - ugh - time for war - entire cities need nuking and all that.

And why on earth are they calling it funky house ffs? I actually like proper funky house, but this just completely sux. Let it stay in the lame cheese clubs infested by wasted puking kiddies with the attension span of a gnat and incompetant button pushing 'DJs' that wouldnt know the concept of a transition or a set that flows if it bit them in the ass.

As for purveyors of this abomination:

That KG Beatz "Go Down" sounds to me like a demo tune on a Casio keyboard from the 80s. VERY ANNOYING!

Its been going on the sly for awhile. On a commercial/pop tip as well.

RnB tracks 5/6 years ago were normally 95-100bpm. Modern rnb now runs at 120-130bpm, prime time for mixing with dance. They'd also be more sample based; now it's more synth/arps.

And a lot of them have been getting remixes by the like of The Wideboys, who seem to have found 2nd legs in doing 1/2 electro 1/2 garage style tracks. Basically anything with a noisy bassline.. It's a deliberate attempt to use a particular sound to tap a secondary market. It's not a new tactic, they are just the in flavor at the moment.

Like anything, success brings a lot of wannabes. Most of whom, don't have a prayer of getting anywhere close. Years ago, they would just be ignored. But because of the internet, its now possible for them to get out there.

As has been proven on countless occasions, the general public love to a) be told what to do, and b) like to think that they are helping start something new.

Im sick of listening. I respect people that do it well, but Im lost as to how people with almost no talent are out there getting millions of plays etc..
