Stanley Turrentine was able to jazz it up with the rest of them but he also loved funk, soul, gospel etc.
Here we get about 50 seconds of an ok beat and very 70s funky rhythm and we start thinking "hmmmm, something better happen soon". Then Stanley steps in.

I just put your selection on Saxman and my little fella started dancing round the living room! He's now 20 months old and loves music, but these tracks really got him moving.

There you go Paul, first satisfied customer, although he's a bit young to hit the bar scene yet...I hope!

Glad to hear it Shane. Here are some happy tracks from a great jazz musician Donald Byrd (trumpet). Like Stanley Turrentine, Donald loved to funk it out too;

Great stuff...why not create a thread like the Recommended Listening series I started ages ago to house all of these? Or rename the thread? Modz1 where are you?
