Even recording felt like a chore in STP2.

I'd never used STP1, as it was before the time I switched to mac.

But it seems that all of the apps you get in the Logic Studio Box have their own rather large quirks.

Logic 8 - Buggy as hell. Effectively two sets of mute & solo states (one for arrange view, one for mixer, even then behvaiour is inconsistent between midi/instrument and audio channels). Its internal routing goes to pot for me when rewired, and the damage is permanent to that project. It also forgets it's own key, and tells me to enter my serial number and register on a weekly basis. And these are just my problems, let alone all of the other ones documented.
STP2 - Cumbersome, unreliable, crashes when trying to use plug-ins (esp 3rd party). Doesn't even like its own demo projects on my machine. I tried using it twice, and gave up and went back to Logic.
Waveburner - Apple made a huge tit here. Under certain circumstances, it loses a bit and only burns at 15 instead of 16bits.

Out of all of their music apps, Garageband & Itunes are probably the most reliable. They are the ones you get free as well...
