Default USB Hubs

Ok so iv been taking the new Traktor Pro for a spin on my newly acquired VCI-100, have already run into some issues, when connecting my audio interface via a hub it drops out, when connecting my midi controller via hub it just flickers on and off, my MBP has 2 USB ports i need a minimal of 3, but 4 would be brilliant but either way as soon as i put a non powered hub on i run into problems, do you think a powered hub will do the trick or should i maybe consider powering the VCI-100 MIDI controller? or is it just a pooh USB hub im using, its a belkin non powered hub 4 points?

Cheers guys

btw TP is a little buggy in terms of reading bpm, reads alot of them as half the actual value

Sounds like just a bad hub.

Our laptop seem to manage to power both the VCI-100 and NI Audio Kontrol 1 - you should have got a PC

If it doesnt work direct then I gues it wont work via an unpowered hub - check the USB port status - no idea where to find that on a mac, but somewhere it should confirm if the device is taking too much power.

I use a an belkin powered USB2 hub on my PC workstation - its quite old now, but has served me well - the PSU for it however is a brick!

It's fine direct from laptop, iv put it down to the hub but was wondering 3 things really
Is it not working properly because

1. It is not meant to be put on a hub
2. It doesn't work on non powered hubs
3. Faulty hub

OsX should pop up a message telling you haven't got enough power when plugging a device which isn't getting enough power from usb.

The VCI-100 is fine on a hub with my PC.

Audio interfaces in general hate hubs.
