Default Anyone harmonic mixing with a DJM-800?

And if so, have you noticed the pitch shifter seems to do odd things with sharp transients? - especially punchy kicks - in bad cases it allmost sound like two not perfectly synced kicks - grrr!

Actually Ive noticed it a little on CDJs in the past with master tempo mode on.

I take it there way to avoid this other than dumping some stuff to CD pre-stretched/pre-pitched with a higher quality algorthm?

Actually other than this, it seems quite decent for real time DJ use - just the tint bit of doubling on some transients is highly offensive to my ears and keep wanting to give it a nudge - I guess it probably doesnt bother those less sensitive to it

I dread to think how much processing power you'd need to implement a more accurate correction in real time...

Yes true - certainly there is quite a difference in pitch shifter quality between traktor 3 and Pioneer CDJ-1000/DJM-800 pitch shifters - ie Traktor is alot cleaner - actually i think traktor is also alot cleaner than Ableton Live 7 too.

I've always found Traktor 3's key lock pretty amazing.. Just getting my teeth into Live 7 so can't properly comment on that yet..

Yes - you will get that in beat mode on anything other than beats - have you tried the texture and complex modes?

For remixing, I generally use a combination of re-pitch and complex modes. Occasionally I may even use different modes on different bits - whatever sounds best.

Someties I'll re pitch first as thats little more than sample rate conversion and so very clean, then thats less artifacts to get from one of the other time stretch algorhythms.

You probbaly know this allready, but in case you dont, approx 6% pitch up on a deck is equiv to a semi tone, so I'll often take advantage of that if I can get away with it with any initial pitch up and if the result still sounds fine, then time to warp align and re-tempo etc.

I find a small pitch up tends to leave it sounding more natural after the re-tempo processing, but it varies with vocals - for some you get the chipmunk effect straight away but with others you can get away with quite a significant pitch up - several semi-tones.

Otherwise try recording the audio out of traktor.
