I'm just about to start moving stuff back to CD - and this what I would *like* to do I think.
Continue to manage everything inside the tracks database in traktor for working out sets, cue points, managing metatdata (BPM, key etc) and using various playlists for fine categorisation of music according to genre, feel etc. Get together a collection of tools to export these playlists from Traktor: - Into a spreadsheet for reference that I can print and stick in the CD box - Track and index info for burning tracks back to CD with CD-Text info with limited metadata (probably BPM and key appended to title) that can also be displayed on a CDJ for reference. - Lightscribe printing of the CDs - title, tracks, my catalog number etc - And find out some way of exporting cue points from traktor to a CDJ SD card - have to see if pioneer are willing to share their cue point format as stored on the SD cards ![]() Ive found a few command line tools so far to help with the CD text, CD burning, index marking etc, the rest I'll proably have to write myself - Traktor's .nml format seem easy enough to decode, and bpm and key info I write to my mp3s IDtags from the Mixed in Key software, manually fixing the BPM info in traktor when I need to. It all sound quite complex, but I figure if I can get a tool set together, it should actually work load easier then the alternative manual messing with nero or whatever buring and cataloguing tools you might use. Now just to persuade NI this is a must-have feature set in Traktor Pro ![]() |

Yes it does sound alot of work, but I dont really want to change the way I fundamentally manage my music, so its all about trying to nearly fully automate re-creation of traktor playlists back to CD with little more effect than selecting a playlist in another app and stuffing in the required number of CDs
![]() The big overheads on organising are about ripping it, processing it with Mixed in key, importing and analysing and checking in running some stuff into live becuase I want to chop it a bit, finding and storing useful default cue points etc. The last thing I want to be doing is going through any of that again for moving stuff to CD. |
