I've just realised this "little" program has generated quite a long thread.

When are you getting MIK then Paul?

no it tells you what key it "thinks" it's in, when i say thinks it connects to the net and put's it through an algorithm that will supposedly identify key

Yes - I use this software - seems very good for both key and bpm analysis - even manges to get the BPM right when traktor 3 sometimes doesnt get it right - which saves manually having to measure with a beat grid in traktor.

On the mixing side - I do find it very helpful for quickly narrowing down the tracks I might pull into a set as transition tracks, however just because two tracks are in compatible keys, bpm, genres etc, it doesnt mean they will mix well (without loopings etc) - chord pregression class etc, but it certainly helps massively for narrrowing down candidates.

Also excellent if you want to change a set on the fly for some reason and get something else in, or you are doing the odd request as it will help you figure out how to get to the target key.

I woulnt be without it now. While it is generally quite easy to figure oput what key a track is in, even if you ear aint that good, doing so manually is a slow process over 000s of tracks.

Sometimes it willl give you multiple results for a track - perhaps because it changes key in the middle. Also tracks on some mix CDs may confuse a little it due to a speed/pitch change in it, but basically pretty good.

great input i think you nailed the approach i was thinking of using it for, one major downside to it is that it needs to connect to the internet to analyse as they don't want to give the algorithm away, this isn't that bad for processing at home but i suppose if you happened to want to process a track while doing a set you may be stuck for 2 reasons
1.no signal
2. i myself switch airport off while running traktor

She can flit her eyelashes all she wants.

I still wouldn't give her any money, for what I can already get for free. Sure, it might take a bit more effort, but that's like any relationship

hehehe

*I think I'd take her home tho
