Ohh, heard this earlier...and its now getting really tough to pick my favourite tracks. This one is an absolute gem. Still sounds as fresh as it did when I frist heard it years ago on Tommy Boy US, followed by Defected picking it up for the UK..

Absolutely love the breakdown on this. It's lovely.



And I think the award for 'piano classic' has to go to Jazztronik - Samurai. It's an epic. Would love to be able to play it... if you don't think this is house enough..check out the Redsoul mix. Some slick drums on that version !



Incidentally Jazztronik are ace in general. Just a shame they don't seem to have a deal over here. The only way to get hold of their stuff is on import...costs a ££

BTW I don't wanna sound like I'm bitching modz1, but I still think this thread was better off located with it's counterparts on techno, DnB etc, in the Great Musicians, Producers & Classic Tracks thread! Why DJ world...I never check that forum!

on the contrary i feel the most people that will appreciate this thread are the Dj's as there are quite a few house Dj's here and to be able to browse this thread for ideas on tracks is great

D'ya know in retrospect.. perhaps all the genres should be in the DJ Forum..? After all, Techno, House, Hip-Hop, D 'n B etc are pretty much confined to DJ's or those interested in dance genres. The 'Great Musicians, Producers & Classic Tracks' Forum really was instigated for those more seminal artists, tracks and producers, in the more mainstream 'acoustic and band related' areas (Trev may say 'proper music then' )

Would that be cool with you Sphelan, considering my thinking above?

PS To all: Pls don't take the above as anything derogatory to the musical content of 'dance music', as of course I've spent twenty years of my life making and playing out said music..

Interesting thought modz1 but there are many of us who are not DJs and don't visit the DJ forum. I started those threads from the point of view of getting to know the genres with the view to producing some similar music down the line.

IMO, as a list of recommended listening for each genre they have served my original function of highlighting classic or representative tracks that would serve as an introduction to each genre. From there each member can listen and, as I have been doing, identify characteristics of each genre to serve as part of the composition/production phase.

Having said that...you're the boss! And maybe the House Music thread has grown much more due to its repositioning in the DJ forums. It depends on the focus these threads are to take. Are they to become the focus of DJs or are they to be the staple diet of musicians and producers in general? Is the 'DJ World' forum visited more than the 'Great Musicians, Producers & Classic Tracks' and would this mean that more members would participated in each of the threads if moved there?

I personally feel they are happy in their home but if the general opinion is that they should be moved, we should go with what the majority rules. I just hope I remember to start visiting the DJ World forum!!!

interesting point there shane, if this is moved back i do think it may leave the spot open to start a thread for Dj's top tunes or similar now that everyone has a taste for this thread, its like the individual D.A.S forums i was opposed to them originally saying that it will segragate everyone but it hasn't really and i find myself still visiting each one

Just a quick question Shane, when you log on, do you visit each Forum from the front page, or do you select the 'New Posts' option from the top? I find the latter a great way to see what's fresh and new every log in period without having to navigate in and out of different forums...

I use both methods but start with the New Posts. So yes, I suppose I would see the threads if moved elsewhere! I'm not trying to put a flies in the ointments but I think it is healthy to discuss the best home for these threads.
