You dont want to let your system drive get full.

I got a load of options about where to stick applications, plugins, data etc.

If there was an option for custom at the start - might be selected that - cant remember - I allways select custom whatever I am installing so dont think about it.

Can i perhaps make my system partition larger? I only had one option on where Cubase 6 was going to be saved and it went to "programme files" in my system drive by default. I was expecting more options as the install ran through but it didn't give me any more. Where should i store programmes from now on? Everything seems to want to always go in "programme files".

The computer seems to be running fine for now. I only use it for music so it is not clogged up with crap but everything i install wants to go into that bloody windows partition of the hard drive. I have a whole 1.5tb drive installed that is empty!!

Luckily my Cubase studio 5 projects all open fine in Cubase 6. I just have the problems i listed earlier with HalionOne and the other thing.

I would move things out of my system folder into the 1.5tb drive but i know if i do that, things will start not working and it will be a complete headache.

Well i have ironed out the little problems i had and i have to say i am loving Cubase 6 so far! There are some great features and tools that i didn't have in Studio 5.

I'd still like to know if the fact that the windows partition of my hard drive being almost full will cause me any problems? I didn't want Cubase 6 to be saved in that partition but i didn't know i had to select custom install to direct it to my 1.5tb drive instead. I intend to do that from now on with software but my windows drive remains about 87% full. Will it cause me a problem? Everything seems to be fine for now. I only use my PC for music so i wont be saving any other programmes in there. Just wondering if the fact that it's nearly full is likely to cause the system to run slow or whatever.

Why not just transfer a load of stuff from your system drive to the other drive?

After following advice on the FXpansion forum, I now run BFD2 on one drive, my synth plugins on another and Cubase runs on the system drive..

I don't want to do that because i just know i will end up getting messages saying "can't locate file" this and that all over the place. It will end up a mess and i am no good at sorting all that out.

I still can't get Halione working properly either. The "skin" for it has disappeared. It will open but all the instruments aren't there anymore and it is a blank white box, there is no controls etc. Don't know why the hell that happened and can't figure out how to fix it. Why can't it never be simple?!!

Well there i just tried to move BFD to my large 1.5tb drive and it caused problems. Cubase 6 just kept crashing and wouldn't open any project that had a BFD track in it.

This is bloody annoying!

Is there any way i can just increase the windows "system" partition on that drive? There is plenty of room on it to do that, i just don't know how. Would it help? I have noticed that since installing Cubase 6 on my system drive and now that it is nearly full. When i have a full project playing, i'm getting crackles now and again.

Just checked my PC's base score in Windows 7 and it is a shitty 3.4.

Not happy with that at all.

Don't concern yourself over that, it's a skewed test of performance. The score it shows will be equal to the lowest performing item in your PC... in your case (and pretty much ANY purpose built DAW) that will be the graphics card and in a DAW that is absolutely fine. The rest of your PC wil doubtless score much better and 3.4.

You can open BFD and regenerate all the file locations, by simply telling it where the BFD2 library folder is.
I currently have Cubase Studio 5, would i be right in thinking if i want to upgrade this http://www.dv247.com/computer-music-software/steinberg-cubase-6-upgrade-2--82346 is the correct one to buy?

Just double checking because there is so many and it would be typical of me to buy the wrong one!

When are they due in stock by the way?
Decisions... I reckon my best option is to buy Cubase 5 second hand and upgrade to 6 if I ever need to... but maybe I should just buy Cubase 6 Artist.

Can you upgrade from Cubase 6 Artist to the Full Cubase 6, if so is it the same product I would need to buy as the one listed in the quote above?

Default cubase artist 6

Hi there, not sure if I'm writing in the right place but I have a minor problem, my mic/interface is registering when I open Cubase but when I open an existing project it stops registering. Only started to happen today after 8 months of using
