your right dave i think this time its been the cheapest price theyve done for a full upgrade its well worth it piano if your on studio 5 the plug ins youll get are brilliant my favourites reverance its one of the best reverbs ive ever used.

but for people on full version cubase 5 theres no real difference for the home user for pro studio users then the upgrade is really good but for normal users theres no real big changes that id use except halionsonic se but ive heard alot of the sounds in se are the same as halion one

another thing piano even though youll upgrade to cubase 6 you will still keep studio 5 too use also the upgrade to your liscences willl allow you too use and install any previous version of cubase ..each version has there strengths and weaknesses i love cubase 4 for its video option which cubase 5 took out so if im working with movies i use cubase 4 all you need to do is either download the source exe file from steinberg for free or borrow the cubase dvds too install or buy from ebay theres always people selling just the dvds with no liscence

Yep, i'm definitely going to upgrade in the next few weeks. Studio 5 has been good and i haven't felt restricted or limited in any way but there must be advantages having the full fat version.

the main advantages are the extra plug ins and editing/video options..for a start you get loads of extra sounds for halion one/groove agent one/you get reverance a world class convelution reverb that has full surround effects/loopmash/tonic(filter fx)/control room (so you can set up seperate headphone outputs)3 different mixers/variaudio (this is superb its a melodyne clone )/time warp (you can quickly timestretch audio )/multiband mastering compressor (very good)/roomworks (loads a reverb effect presets and moreediting than the one in studio versions also very cpu friendly)/it also integrates with external equipment more than studio does..ive just checked the comparison chart and the versions of studio 6/cubase 6 arent as feature lacking as cubase 5/studio 5 in the cubase 5 versions you miss loads of features in each version but the cubase 6 versions arnt as lacking but for a jump from studio 5 to full cubase 6 id say go for it youll get loads of new toys too play with and hopefully it will integrate more with your yamaha mixer.
hers a list of differences between the two versions---

and heres a cubase 5/studio 5 comparison chart--

See when i move to Cubase 6, which i'm intending to very soon, will my projects that have been recorded in Cubase studio 5 open ok and everything like plug in's etc be in place when opened in Cubase 6? Should it be seamless?

Providing you point C6 to the same place(s) where all your plug-ins are, then yes, it should seamlessly open your C5 projects.

Cheers Dave, just had visions of me sitting for hours at the PC pulling my hair out trying to get my projects to open properly. Here's hoping it's a smooth transition.

Has anyone upgraded yet? Fancy treating myself to a little something. Cubase upgrade and superior drummer are both on the list. Can't decide what to buy first.

Just ordered the upgrade from studio 5 to the full Cubase 6. Had a read about it in SOS and it looks pretty good. For 150 quid it's a good price too.

I actually have a question about this upgrade and installing it. When i bought my pc it had a 500gig hd in it. Synergy parritioned it and it has 50gig which is called windows and that partition is pretty full and it has 450 gig for storing projects. I installed another 1.5tb drive for the likes of samples etc. So, when i install i dont want the upgrade to clog up my windows partition even more with any samples that come with cubase 6. What would be the best way for me to install? Any tips?

During install of addon and instruments you can set the folder they install their resources to.

So I let C6 install the application to its default program files location and have all the addon resources installing to my data hard drive. (I only include the usable steinberg stuff, not the trial or additional bits you have to buy as I have Komplete 7 and spectrasonics stuff anyway, so dont need them).

So what you mean is, i let Cubase install to the Programme files folder in my "windows" partition and install the rest to my other hard drive that i have installed solely for samples? As for the add on trial stuff, can i select not to install that at all? I'm not really bothered about that as i also intend to buy Komplete 7.

Just run the installer

You will see what I mean as it asks you where you want different stuff to go and what you want installed.

Ok, well i upgraded and just installed and of course i have a bloody problem!

First off, everything went into my windows drive which i didn't want! That partition is almost full now, is that going to cause problems? It didn't give me an option to install different things in different places. Just at the start it selected programme files and that was it, everything went in there.

I'm fine with it if it wont cause any problems though.

Next up, when i start Cubase 6 i get an error message saying optimization library not found, please reinstall the plug in. What is that all about?

It then comes up, Skin File, HalionOne.srf not found. So i can't use HalionOne.

Please help!
