Way back years ago i used to be a Cubase VST 32 user before making the move to Logic when i upgraded to OS X. Now i suddenly have to get some tracks from the old cubase songs so i was wondering, if I bought Cubase Essentials, would it allow me to import the old Cubase VST 32 songs so i could bounce down what i need ready to throw into Logic? To be honest I really don't want to spend £100-ish for a program that i'll use once and then discard so if there are any other suggestions i'd be glad to hear them. Alternatively i know sometimes you can buy a product which has a 'lite' version of Cubase bundled with it but im not aware of any at the moment. If there was one around and i fancied the bit of gear i could maybe go down that route instead.
thanks for any help!! |

No they were all done on a mac using os9. They do include vsts but im more interested in the midi data so i can use all new sounds TBH. Obviously i need the audio as well. Thanks so much for the offer of help, it really is appreciated but i fear it may be an ongoing thing that i couldnt impose on somebody like that so i'l have to make a purchase i suppose. It would just be nice to know that Essentials will do what i want before i pull the trigger and buy it!

well my solution was thus,
downloaded the newly available Cubase 5 demo (good timing Steinberg) which gave me a license on the dongle which then enabled me to download the free legacy version of SX which imports old VST arrangements. Ive now got the months trial to convert all the old tunes i have. |

its a good job you didnt buy essentials because im not sure you could load up old cubase tracks in it..essentials is basically the same as le version which is given away in some products and in le versions you cant import old tracks done in cubase.i had le4 and couldnt load tracks id done in sx3 so in the end i got cubase 5.i had studio 4 too and that wouldnt load old songs as well.
