I recently purchased Cubase 5 and am already frustrated with setting up my hardware. I have an Alesis 8 multimix usb device that has worked fine with all of my past recording software (with my past software the "plug and play" feature simply worked, without my having to set inputs or outputs.) However, I can only get Cubase to recognize my mixer as an output. In the VST connections screen output is set as ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver, and the output to the mixer is working perfectly. However on the input tab ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver is an option but when i click on it nothing happens, Audio device still says "not connected." Is there a specific driver i am missing for input or another setting i need to change for cubase to recognize the input as well?

Use the ASIO driver. In the "Device Setup" dialog within Cubase, change the selected driver from "ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver " to "Alesis USB Audio Device" (which, according to the manual, is how the Alesis ASIO driver is named - read page 30 onwards).

ASIO duplex is a generic driver.
Go to Device's\Device setup\VST Mutiltrack (or Audio System, Audiobay, it changes with everyversion). Change your ASIO driver to Alesis USB Audio Device and then hit "switch" and apply those changes. You can then go to your VST connections (F4 shortcut) and set up all the ins and outs you require. ______________________________

I have exactly the same setup and a similar problem.
The drop down menu shows the Alesis ASIO driver but when I select it to try and change drivers I get this message... "No USB ASIO device found!" The computer is DEFINATELY recognizing the multimix though, its just cubase cant see to see it ![]() SORTED PROBLEM Just used ASIO4ALL and im getting sound to mixer. Anyone know if the MM USB1.0 will allow each VST channel in cubase to be sent to each channel on the mixer individually? example: z3ta on channel one on mixer, Battery in channel two on mixer etc... Im not asking how to do it, just if its possible? Ta |
