Default Anyone help with an import problem??

Hi ya,
having a bit of an issue here in Cubase 4!
lets say my tempo is at 180...when i import a piece of audio (any) say at 133bpm it is not staying at 133bpm but will get sandwiched between 2 bars and automatically be at 90 bpm. them when stretching it to my desired lengh it will have lost quality. this has never happened before. even if i change the tempo(live) that audio will strech with it and stay in them bars perfectly!
BASICALLY i want to import audio and it stays at its original lengh, regardles of the tempo set.

I really hope someone can help, I don't know where this issue has come from I just woke up and it decided to be like this! I've been playing with it and can't figure out how to disable this automatic stretch!
Cheers

I had exactly the same problem, don't remember how I solved it. Most of my Cubase 4 niggles and nags sorted themselves out before I could sort a solution, including this one I think. Gimme a minute and I'll have a quick check back through.
Best bet is to spend an hour going through all the preferences and options, using the manual as reference for what doesn't seem to do anything, and make sure everything is set how you want it to be. I did that and 'touches wood' haven't had anything weird happen except Cubase decided to reset itself.

cool thanks. I have played with the prefrences for a a long while and experimenting and what not, would not know what else to try...I'm baffled. Normally this would be a good feature if it would let you choose the stretch amount, but its always half the tempo and sped up!
I have used C4 for a couple of years and I've never updated with any of the patches..but I doubt that would be an issue now...
Would appreciate any ideas!
thanks a bunch.

I strongly recommend updating it, I know a lot of it was hardware inegration but I got to 4.5.2 and its as stable as its gonna get. Thats just personal preference though.

Really Tedious Problem...

If I didn't have the annoying habit of trying to be flippant with my topic titles this would have been easier to find. I think its a similar problem to the one you describe, and I'm pretty sure it fixed itelf. I'm working now so haven't got the time to read through it all- but there was some very good advice in there if I remember correctly and may just at least point you in the right direction.

Cheers...well I updated it and still the same problem. I have been going through the threads you guided me to, same problem by the looks of things but still no luck my end. There seems no clear cut way to sort the bug. streching it to normal again does'nt help as the quality is lost........Still working on it!!!!

And i feel what you said back then about changing to Mac and Logic 8 but then I'm sure, probably like you...what would i do with all my £££'s worth of Vst's I collected over the last 10 years.

Its certainly a tough call to make. If Apple bought out an affordable AND upgradable piece of hardware I'd be on it like a shot I think.
I can't remember what setting I changed to sort this issue, it must have been something. Probably 'something follows project something'.

Cheers Wilty.
It seems to have sorted itself. But since the update it is a little strange...Eq adjusting is a little odd but most importantly warp sample (wav) seems to have vanished, any ideas on that one??

I dunno mate, I didn't spend much time on 4.0.x I went straight to 4.2.x then 4.5.2. I know the update rearranged the Audio functions to make them more managable and changed the layout a little, I don't think it removed any features.

As for it sorting itself out its odd-I've had a couple of problems that have appeared from nowhere, pissed me off to high heaven for a week then disappear right as I think I've finally worked it out.

Does anyone actually spend time making music any more, or are we all just sorting out our f*cking computers?

I've had no end of pain with mine. That damned missing transport bar issue was one of my biggest bug-bearers.

If I had the money I'd seriously considering going completely analogue, from the bottom up (obviously in conjunction with and alongside my DAW+software). I reckon I'd learn more and have a bit more fun-and a bit less stress.

That bloody transport panel issue was ridiculous. As was my latest 'Cubase resetting itself for no reason' issue.
