Default My Disasterous Morning...

...I'm not a patient person. Its a flaw, I know this. I'm also not computer literate. In fact I'll go as far as to say I'm computer-stupid.
But there is no reason at all that Cubase should have forgotten all my settings, messed up all my midi settings and basically made my life difficult. I've been slowly tweaking it over the last few months and getting just how I want it. There are not enough swear words to explain how miffed I am. Not only that but the Hypercontrol on my Axiom has stopped working, which means I basically have a rathe large, rather expensive paperweight. I've re-installed all the drivers and the Hypercontrol software and still nothing.

Cubase also asked if I wanted to register my software before I get started, like it was a clean install. So now I basically have to start all over again, including all the hassle I had with getting the Axiom and Cubase to be friends (which still was a bit touch and go).

I am so angry I'm 'shouting about it, because it gives my hands something to that isn't find something heavy and beat my equipment to silicon dust.

I am not a Cubase user but it seems to me that Cubase stores it's main settings in a file named Defaults.xml
So if there is any chance you have a recent-ish backup of your computer then you might be able to restore that file.
Of course if you have no backup it is still worth locating the file so you can make a backup of it once you have again done your tweaking. This at least might give you a quick fix if Cubase wants to mess you around like this again in the future.

Thanks man, I'll dig that out. I just can't understand why it did it, I did nothing-it didn't crash or anything last time I used it and I had done nothing to the computer-just turned it on and boomff-buggered.
I spent the morning I was gonna spend on piano stabs reinstalling drivers for the Axiom (9 times before it even recognised them). Nightmare.
