Default stop your arrange window resizing

ive just sussed out that if you manually drag your arranger page borders to the size you want it will stay that size no matter how many times you go into your edit or mixer pages..but the edit windows are still messed up big time they dont start at c1 mine starts at c6 so i have to scroll down to see the notes ive played also the edits are way off to the left so i still have to click maximise to get things half way decent..hope they fix this soon

What do you mean by c1 and c6?

If you mean the track your audio or midi is showing up in you know you can grab them and move them whereever ou want, right?

I think waxxy means MIDI notes C1 and C6 on the piano keyboard that is shown vertically on the left hand side of the "piano roll" style MIDI editor in Cubase.

have you tried hovering over the small piano roll and scrolling the mouse wheel or clicking the little arrows top and bottom of the piano?

have you tried making the tracks default again and just making the tracks large, jumbo, extreme or fit window etc by clicking and holding on the piano roll, mine all show C3 as the centre key which is to be expected as its "middle c"

That is something of an exaggeration now, isn't it? I think you've posted more complaints about this issue on here than everyone has in total on Cubase.net Either way, a quick gander at the Cubase forums brings up this official response from Steinberg:
"You can delete your app data to reset this. However you should be able to resize things and that should save the way you want it. But if it is not doing that, go to start then all programs. Find Steinberg Cubase 5 in the list. Then click on Cubase 5 application data folder. Delete the contents of the folder, then relaunch Cubase 5. Everything should be reset to the default values."

lol..its not an exageration dave maybe you wouldnt class it as a bug but i would ..if the problem wasnt in previous versions and its not in the previous versions ive got installed on my computer then its a bug..lol..yeah ive posted alot about it but i think theres only 3 off us on here whos actually using cubase 5 to start with lol.

but on the steinberg site and other forums ive seen lots complain about the samething and the mods havent posted any replys to peoples posts about it but they have said it is a issue there aware off and are trying to find away of sorting it out.

ive not seen the post about deleting the application data file to reset everything but i cant see the cubase 5 folder in the way they tell you too delete the folder..ive got that many programs and demos on my computer the program list is beyond my screen and even when i change resolutions i still cant see it..can you tell me how i could get to this file please dave ?ive checked the normal steinberg /cuibase 5 folder andcant see it..big thanks though dave for the reply its much appreciated and hope this fixs it

I like to keep my StartMenu well organised, so every few weeks or so I move newly installed or updated apps into carefully categorised sub-folders within the Start menu (see thumbnail below). Well worth doing to keep things manageable.

You should find the folder in question at:

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 5

Where <your username> is the default username you login as when you start-up your PC.

well i dont believe it when you trash the contents of that file it searches for previous versions of cubase such as cubase 4 and it copys all your preferencies into the cubase 5 folder so all the resizing problems are no more because cubase 4 didnt have this problem..

but ive lost my transport bar now !!! lol the little bugger is nowere to be seen but thats not such a big loss as i use my steinberg houston for fast forwarding /scrubbing and all the other things associated with the transport bar.

ohhh yeah and if your gonna try the method dave posted please be patient when you restart cubase 5 you may think its crashed but it isnt its silently looking and copying files across on my computer it took about a hour to do its rescan but once its rescanned everythings ok.

Take a look at the preferences file:

C:\Users\<my username>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 5\Defaults.xml

and search the file for "TransportWindowController", you should find something like this:
Code:

<item>
  <string name="Group" value="TransportWindowController" />
  <member name="Values">
      <obj class="UPoint" name="Location" ID="110087440">
          <int name="H" value="-1513" />
          <int name="V" value="1133" />
      </obj>
      <int name="State" value="2" />
  </member>
</item>
I believe the "H" and "V" values should be the x/y position of your transport bar (though I haven't tested this theory)... so you should be able to edit the values to bring the transport bar back onto your screen.
