I think that loopmash is going to be the cause of a huge splurge of really nasty sounding hacked-up-in-5-secs hip hop...

Otherwise it does sounds like a good upgrade and might actually save me having to buy melodyne or auto-tune, though I never thought that much of the yamaha pitch fixer plugin I have - hopefully it miight be improved.

The batch export tool likks like it might well have leap-frogged our expectations... I would have been happy with a siomple multi-tack simultaneous export of the raw WAV data... but what they've provided in C5 looks to be incredibnly comprehensive... should make the creation of stems a very simple task indeed.

wow having watched these video's they have definitely introduced some radical features, if i was starting out i would go for this straight away but really how well are these features going to work? if SB release this and it's stable i think this will be the DAS for 2009 and thats IF!

I want the batch export in logic, iv wanted this "choose what fx" for ages

Yes - I saw wish Live had something like that, though at least in live its not hard to resample arbitary tracks to new audio tracks then sift around the project folder and find the wav files and copy them out etc.

Anyway - looks like it will be worth forking out for the 4->5 upgrade

Just waiting to hear news of the Live 7->8 upgrade

It sure does look tasty, I like the idea of the Automation panel myself. Whether or not it goes on the credit card is a whole other issue, haven't even had C4 a year yet and still getting my head round that. Depends what kind of upgrade pricing is offered and definitely on how stable it is at initial release. I think (or at least would hope) they learnt a few lessons with 4 and put out a product worth having from the get-go.
I think it is rather unfair of Steinberg to put out a new version 4 months after releasing an update that STILL didn't fix the last one.

One feature that's grabbed my attention is the fully integrated articulation switching for orchestral (and other) libraries... you can just kinda "paint" each note with the articulation to be used... works out of the box with the bundled Halion Orchestral demo but also seems to be configurable so that you map the "paintable" articulations to the relevant keyswitch note the 3rd party library uses... sweet!
