Default Does my PC need a firewire card to work with a firewire interface?

I want to buy this a Konnekt 24D interface:

Does this mean that I will also need to buy a firewire card for my computer in order to make it compatible

Thanks.

Yes.

Go out of your way (if you have to) to find one that has a "TI" (Texas Instruments) chipset.

They are known to be the "most" compatible with the TC stuff. Lucent/Agere and others have been shown to be somewhat problematic on some occasions with those Konnekt boxes.

How on earth do you get one of those inside a computer? Does it involve opening up the computer tower and fitting it somehow? Taking it to a professional?

Cheers.

Yep, you'll need to open it up and fix it to a free PCI slot. It's pretty easy to do, if you don't know how surely you know someone who does, it's a common procedure.

There's a number of videos here and there on slotting stuff into your PC. Just touch a bit of metal before opening your PC to get rid of the static and away you go.
