Hi, I'm new to the forum and hope you good people can help solve my headaches.
I've just purchased an intel Quad core 2.5 pc, 4gb ram running windows 7. I've been trying to install my Phonic Firewire 18 Helixboard mixer using the 2.44 driver from the Phonic website. The driver loads but on the final screen states "disconnect and reconnect cable and turn on devices" but the mixer is not found. I've tried installing with the mixer disconnected, switched on/off etc but to no avail. I've emailed Phonic but still waiting for their reply. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Ooh that sounds annoying. Have you tried uninstalling what you have on there and starting afresh?

There is a problem with W7 at the moment with firewire drivers. The 1394 (firewire driver) was updated, rendering some older devices uncompatable.
As its a new system you have just bought it may well be the case you have the updated driver. try downloading the old one http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/connec..._Windows7.mspx If it's the new version you need, and you want to try it in legacy: 1- Start menu 2- Right click "Computer" select "manage" 3- Select "Device manager" from the left hand pane 4- Expand the "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" node in the device tree on the right hand pane 5- Right click the host controller node select "Update driver software ..." 6- select "Browse my computer for driver software" 7- select "let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer ..." 8- select "1394 OHCIcompliant Host Controller (legacy)" Hope this helps ______________________________

Thanks for the step by step guide.
I tried the legacy driver but it wouldn't work, I therefore reinstalled the oem 1394 firewire card driver and all seems fine with the adaptor.. When I connect the Phonic, it shows in Device manager but with an exclamation (suggesting that my adaptor is connected ok). I updated the driver using the ver2.44 from Phonic website but on the last screen when connecting devices it still fails to connect. On Microsoft website, I found something called VXP program. Apparently this converts win7 back to virtual windows xp. Has anyone tried this ? and do you think it will let me use drivers etc for XP? Still waiting for Phonic to reply..... Arrgggghh! |
