Does anyone here use a laptop with an express card firewire adaptor? I have a laptop thats a great spec for music but only has usb. the only option i have is to buy a express card with a firewire port. but im not sure this will function as well as a built in firewire port? any info would be great. Im looking at a firepod or firestudio.

If you want to get firewire input into your laptop via cardbus i'd recommend the Startech cards. Its important to make sure any card you use has Texas Instruments chipset.
Contact nearest store and ask for item 46815 - thats a Startech 2 port express card. £44.99 |

bear in mind that a card adding firewire to a laptop cannot deliver power! (flipping annoying) you should check out usb 2.0 interfaces as there are some really good ones coming out and it is a more compatible standard

They can if they are the right card integrated in to the correct laptop chassis, but its all dependant on those 2 factors.
