One "final" question.

I have the second HD I bought still in its wrapper. There is no space in the mounting rack for another HD.

Can I still add this HD to the PC internally some way? I presume it wouldn’t be a good idea to just leave it in there without fixing it to something.

no not if it was to remain un attached, if you felt brave i cant see why you couldn't try and create a frame some where in the case if it has space but judging it only has 2 slots for a hard drive it must be a small case. should of checked before buying the additional drives

just get an external case for it

Yeah, in the list of expansion options in the the documentation on the PC it lists 2 HD slots. I read this as 2 for expansion. Didn't see until I opened the case that one slot is taken up with existing HD. So in fact there is only ONE extra slot. Misleading information IMO!

Will have a shot at fixing it in there some way or else store it until I get the Mac and bang it in there. One less HD to buy for the Mac!

store it, fixing it to the chassis is way more hassle then its worth, do you need theextra space straight away?

Possibly not as I am going to move over in the next couple of months. I have nearly €3k put away for Mac + interface (not sure which one yet) + any other bits and bobs I will need e.g. preamp - although this can wait as I have no possibility of acoustic treatment on the present room.

Like I said, one less HD to add to the Apple price!

with the ever increasing size of external HDs your problems may well be solved with creating some desktop space, and making sure there are no children or dogs capable of knocking it over

Buy some 3.5-5.25 adaptors and slam is in one of the external bays, might be a bit of a bugger with cabling but worth it if you need the space.
