Default Dual Screen with Radeon x1550?

Is it possible? I'm not too clued up on GFX cards so you'll have to bear with me here, but i've just been given another screen which i'd like to hook up.

Any ideas?

Yes it is!

The white port is for a digital screen/output and the blue is for a VGA screen/output.

Indeed just get a convertor for the white port and then you should be able to activeate the other screen via right clicking on the desktop-> properties-> settings and then configuring the resolution etc of the second output

I use a dual monitor on a Radeon X1650 so the X1550 should work as well .

Two notes of caution - use ATI's latest Catalyst drivers when you install and follow the installation instructions to the letter. I've found that it can be a real pain to uninstall and reinstall Catalyst.

I also found that the X1650 needs to pull a lot of juice on pc start up. So much so that I ended up having to pause it at boot up for a few seconds to allow other cards to start. That's despite using an 800W psu.

Anyway once installed and running it's a pretty good card in my experience. I can't use a pci-express so I'm limited for choice but the Radeon works fine.

Best,
Tony

Can you not just use the vga and s-video outputs to run dual screen without the need for getting a converter for the digital output?

The s-video is for video output to TV for example. The only "converter" you need in order to use the digital ouptut is the right kind of cable. For example, a DVI -> VGA cable could be yours typically for less then five pounds.

The Radeon X1550 supports Hydravision - ATI's multiple monitor management software. Info and free download here;
