![]() Up until now, when recording bass, I have simply been plugging straight into my mixers preamps and recording direct with Bass.
I've been thinking though, that i would like to maybe purchase a decent little Bass amp and mic it up and perhaps blend the miked signal with the direct signal to achieve some different results. What do you guys think of this approach and also what Bass amps would you suggest for this purpose? Most of you know the sort of style of stuff i record so taking that into account, is there anything you can suggest? I'm not really in the know about Bass amps, not being a Bass player per se, so your advice would be much appreciated! Cheers! ![]() ______________________________

![]() Ah, forgot price range.
Coupla hundred quid maybe? If it's not really worth using an amp unless my budget is higher, then I'll probably just stick to going direct. In that case, i need a recommendation for a decent DI box that i can run through my Avedis Preamp instead of using the mixers pre's. Trev recommended a pretty cheap DI to me before but i can't remember what it was so if you're reading this, lemme know what it was again ![]() Edit: was it this one? http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipmen...e-di-box--2541 ______________________________

![]() Just DI it. Yes the Bss is my favoured budget one. If you wanted to go for the rolls Royce go either A Designs Reddi or Creation Audio MW1

![]() Cheers Trev, I'll check those ones out.
Might even see if i can pick up another decent 500 series pre with a DI already built in. It's about time i had another option anyway. My Lunchbox still has 5 empty slots ![]() If you're selling any 500 series goodies in the near future, give me a shout as i might be interested. ______________________________
