roger glover from deep purple , i never really liked or listend to much of the who even though entwislte is up there also, im a big fan of tim commerford from rage against the machine too,

Lots of great bass players, I go with all those listed so far, especially Mark King and Tony Levin (whom I met once at a bass "clinic" and what a pleasant chap he is too).

I'd add:

Les Claypool for being so eccentric and entertaining
Chris Squire for that ferocious Rickenbacker sound
Bruce Thomas from Elvis Costello, whose bass playing I always enjoyed
Michael Manring, because I can never play like that but I bought a Zon anyway
Jean-Jacques from the Stranglers, just because
Jean-Paul Jones, from Led Zep, whose playing got me into bass in the first place.

No-one's mentioned Pino Palladino!
