Default Your setup?

What's your bass rig and why?

I have a few in my studio;

SWR Working Pro / 4 x 10 / 1 x 15
Ampeg SVT / 4 x 10
Hartke 3500 / 4x 10 / 4 x 10

I find they are completely different, the SWR for metal and rock, the Ampeg for warmth and the hartke for pristine cleans and a great DI out.

What's your thoughts?

Cort 34A bass and a Behringer Bass V-Amp pro, or direct into my mixer (which usefully has a hi-Z input preamp) and use my TC Fireworx to process it. Both the V-Amp and TC fireworx are midi controlable, so I have a Behringer FCB1010 pedal/switch board to control outboard.

Why? - They were cheap (bass and the v-amp processor) and didnt want to spent much on something that I wasnt sure if I would actually use that much.

These are the main things I gig with, I'm not going to include the things I don't gig, or use in the studio to keep things short and sweet.

Hartke HA2000 Head
Hartke VX410 Cab

Might aswell list the main gigging equipment too...

Sansamp Bass Driver
Electro Harmonix Bass Balls
Boss TU2

Musicman Stingray 5
Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz
NS Design Electric Upright Bass

Why?- As much as i'd love to have more than one rig, I don't have the room. I'd like an Ampeg SVT with an 8x10 but it's a very difficult rig to transport.

I'm upgrading my rig to Mark Bass this year because they sound awsome and are very solid.

Great Thread!

Mine's the following:

Musicman Stingray 4 3EQ
Musicman Stingray 5 3EQ
Zon Sonus 5 Special Fretless
Gibson EB4L

Ashdown evo II head
Ashdown 4 x 10 cab
Ashdown 1 x 15 cab

Boss TU-2 tuner
Boss AW-3 Auto-wah
Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus
Boss LMB-3 Enhancer/Limiter
Boss BF-2 Flanger
Tokai Z-II delay
Ashdown Bass Compressor
Electro Harmonix Mini Q-Tron (which I love)

Rarely used the effects when I played live, except a bit of flange and chorus on some chord parts and solos, but I really like fooling around with them at home. Whacking in loads of echo on the Tokai, some flange, chorus, the mini Q-Tron and loads of overdrive and it all gets very silly but sounds great after a few pints. Maybe I'll record it some day

Dream rig? Well, pretty happy with what I have, but I really like Markbass kit, especially the light weight as I get older (my Ashdown stuff is soooo heavy). I played through one for the first time just before Christmas and thought it sounded amazing. Even the 2 x 10 on its own was incredible. I wouldn't mind one of their rigs, the Traveller 2x10 and 1x15 and the LMK two-channel head I think, 'cept I can't afford it.

Not sure I need another bass. The Stingrays are great and very dependable. I'm slowly getting to grips with the Zon fretless, which sounds so completely different. I've been able to get some fantastic sounds out of it recently. I do like the Bongo 6 from Musicman, maybe one day. I do dream of a custom bass, though, maybe something from Alex Watson

I keep mine simple.
Fender Jazz standard 5 string
Ampeg B2RE into an Avatar 4x10 NEO cabinet.

Sometimes if I'm really feeling goofy I'll use a tuner pedal, too!

That's my whole live rig when I'm playing bass. For recording I usually just go direct into my preamp DI, but sometimes I'll use the DI out from my Ampeg.

I also use the V-amp pro i bought second hand. Cheap piece of gear but i really like it, i know behringer aren't thought much of, but the V-amp sounds pretty good imo. My rig will basically be bass going through the V-amp and into my Yamaha N12 when it arrives.
