Default HELP! what can we invest in!!

Hiya Guys ....

New to the Forum but hoping i can get some good advice.

I work for a Youth Project and were hopefully getting hold of some funding to buy some gear to record Acoustic Material in our youth cafe.

Iv been having a look around at some bits but there is quite alot on the market.

were looking for something fairly compact, about 8-16 tracks and that burn straight onto CD. Also looking for a decent vocal mic.

does anybody have any suggestions on what we could invest in to get some decent stuff done. (we will have about 600 to play with)

Cheers

Should have posted this in the "pro audio" section mate. Anyway,Tight budget!! By acoustic material, i assume you're just going to be recording acoustic Guitars and vocals? Will you be recording drums?

My recommendation for something compact that can make a quick demo is the ZoomR16. Digital Village do a bundle deal with a condenser mic (which you can use for recording vocals and acoustic Guitars) all for 339. Here is the link http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipmen...000-mic--67245 The only thing it doesn't do is record onto CD but it does record straight onto an SDHC card (basically a camera memory card) and you can then hook it up to a PC and transfer the files and burn them onto CD from there. It's a very simple easy process. I think for what you're looking for, that bundle deal would be good value and would still leave you some money to buy things like mic stands if needed and a cheap set of monitors and a pair of headphones. I actually had the Zoom before but i'm was wanting to make a higher standard of recording and upgraded pretty quickly to something better but if you're looking for an affordable way to make demo's, i think it would suit your needs pretty well. Some of the other guys might have other recommendations though.

Good Luck.
