Someone just posted this over at the ableton forums:

http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html

Looks useful.

Ethan, like Frank, sells very good products (though his are considerably more expensive than GIK for a very similar product indeed). Ethan however does not know what he does not know and you'll often see him sounding off or 'giving advice' on subjects about which he clearly does not understand ranging from acoustics to converters and beyond. His site does, however, give a useful 101 on acoustics. Definately worth a read. A bit like the Curry's ad though, once you've read it and worked out what product you want, buy it from Frank and get some great advice from a real engineer about setting up your room etc.

Heheheh. I hear ya. I'm not sure which nonsense I've heard from his is the funniest... Was it the "behringer converters are as good as prism" or mackie monitors are better than atc'...?!?

I like the one where he claims if you get a cheap mic and apply eq to it based on the specs of a U87 it's EXACTLY the same as a U87. I suppose the classic is where he tries to prove a soundblaster pc sound card is as good as an apogee
