As a little side project while my live room is still in progress I thought I'd rip out the old control room and do a better job of it (as its probably gonna have to last me until at least Christmas until my new purpose built control room is finished). I thought if I posted my work here some of you may get more useful stuff out of this than the work I'm doing on a 600 sq ft room!
In terms of dimensions, the room (which will ultimately become a kitchen/lounge when my new control room is finished) probably isn't much different from what you guys are working with at approx 11ft x 9ft x 8ft. I kicked off this little project today by pulling down the plasterboard ceiling. This gives me extra height (approx 8 inches more - every little helps) and therefore extra space for trapping. Below are a few pics of the mess that ensued. First one you can see the old control room window: ![]() And another: ![]() Here's the other side of the room: ![]() ______________________________

Will do Frank! What's the lead time?
Anyhooo.... Let's take a look at how this is progressing. First thing I did was put up a beam to take the leading edge of the cloud (you can see that I dropped it a bit more than a foot from the ceiling beam): ![]() And viewed toward the other side: ![]() ______________________________

Once the beams were up I had something to screw the cloud to (you can see the front edge is on the low beam and the rear is up at normal ceiling height) and could then start getting rockwool up:

You can see here how much rockwool I'm gonna get above the cloud (to give you an idea of scale that beam is 6 inches deep):

Here a couple of pictures from yesterday. You can see one complete superchunk style bass trap to the right. The framing is almost done:
