Treating a domestic sized room

Bit more work done on this today. You can see for the front wall trap I started by placing a piece of high density rockwool vertically in the framing. What you can't see here is the fact there is an inch wide gap running behind the board:



You can see in this one how I'm placing 50mm general purpose rockwool vertically to fill out the trap (this is because the rockwool is allegedly more effective if the waves can enter and run with the grain of the material):

This one is a longer shot so you can see how it is starting to shape up (I shoved my desk into position so you can get an idea of how it will look):

Not so far...I want to get a better idea where you're going with it. You'll have the 1/4 wavelength bump to deal with, so you'll need to do something on the front wall.

So far so good. I'm eagerly watching the thread, so I'll add commentary as you go for sure.

I spent today doing a bit more work putting the old control room back together. I'd got the builders to plaster the old window cavity late last week:



Meaning I could get right on with the left hand superchunk:



You can see the inch wide gap I left behind it in this shot:



It all came together quite quickly though:

Trev, this is a real lesson in acoustic treatment. I love watching it develop but can I be so bold as to ask how much all this will probably cost by the time it's done...just so I can start budgeting!! If you prefer not to say publicaly, I could PM you the question.

Cool. Glad you are finding it useful! I'm having fun doing it (and more importantly, it's keeping me out of trouble!)

Probably about a hundred quid so far (maybe £120 but not far off). I figure on another hundred for the other half. I picked up a spotlight bar in Wickes for a tenner this pm on the way home. I've still got some fabric to buy to cover it (no idea on the price of this). Then a lick of paint and Robert's your mother's brother!

Bit more work today on this. Started doing the wall/ceiling corner on the left hand wall. Am taking exactly the same approach to this as I did for the front where the wall/ceiling meet.

then I started the last vertical one:

All i have to deal with now are that front/back standing wave and the mirror points. I've also gotta upholster the lot. Material arrived this week. I managed to get the same stuff cheaper elsewhere and went for Screen Claret and Cara Glass. Miles of the stuff!
