Room mode calculators are great, but they're usually most useful *after* you've treated the room, oddly enough. The reason is that, in a pre-existing space, the solution is the same no matter where your modes are. If you have a 13'x15'x8' room (*very* typical home room size), your modal issues are completely predictable...you'll need a ton of bass trapping in all the usual places, so it's best to just knock that out, then get the calculator, measurement mic and measuring software out after. Assuming that your listening position is set up right, you'll then be able to pinpoint the real problem areas that remain...maybe you'll still have too much ringing at 80Hz or a nasty comb filter at 2-4Khz. Armed with that knowledge you can spot treat.

If you do things that way you'll spend less and be more effective.
