Right! I've been working my way through your suggestions guys and the sound of hip hop
is familiar to me...it must be
osmosis! I suppose it due to its prevalence today.
Now I can appreciate more why it may not be appropriate to refer to it as "dance" music. It's more a plateform for comment from the rappers, no?
It's not the music I would have usually listened to but now it sounds a bit more familiar. I realise that it's not a music I would probably produce here in my home studio - hell, I can't imagine myself rapping, nor would I insult the artists who do it by trying. Were I to hook up with a rapper that would be different. Also, I have realised from the exercise that hip hop would not be the most appropriate style to choose for a remix.
