I was even told that my problems were due to using Cubase SX2 so upgraded to 4 and that made no difference.

My advice steer clear of vista and go back to XP home or Pro but use SP2, thats the best results ive had for a stable system. And dont use an Edirol FA101 on a pc, not worth the hassle, use a UA101 instead if you want the same set up.
You're quite right about the USB/FireWire thing... fact is firewire is sh*t-hot on Mac but not so on the PC, where you'll find lots of problems with various devices on FireWire... saying that, my PC experience of the FA-101 has been nothing but flawless.

I'm still not going to be sold on 64-bit Vista being useless... I've been running it for about a year now and it seems to have been sorted... no crashes for about 6 months and everything I have works perfectly... I'll stop there and possibly start a new thread before I get carried away; I can see this debate raging on forever!!

I wouldn't know... I'm not really into using Linux for anything other than media PC type stuff.
